Frontrunners/Frontwalkers Chicago is a club for lesbians, gay men, bisexuals, transexuals and friends who are interested in running and walking together along Chicago's great open lakefront. We meet twice weekly, on Saturdays at 9:00 a.m. and Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m. We always start from the Totem Pole in Lincoln Park. See the course map for its location.
Return of the Red Dress Run

07/04/2009Marilyn and Giselle are at it again. They couldn't leave it behind when they came to Chicago and it was pretty fun last year so why not? This Saturday's fun run won't be any regular fun run - it is the 2nd Annual Red Dress Run. It means exactly what it sounds: show up for the run/walk in a red dress. It's fun; it's awkward; it's something to do. So do it. Everyone on the running path gets a little kick out of it, too. 9 am at the Totem Pole, Addison & Lake Shore Drive.
Proud To Run a Smash!!
The 28th annual Proud To Run was a great success. Everyone claimed to enjoy themselves, praises were thrown around like frisbees, the sun beamed brightly and all the glistening, glowing bodies were a sight to see. We again topped the 1,000 mark with registrations and look on track to be able to donate $10,000 to both Gerber/Hart Library and Pride Youth again this year. Much thanks go out to Universal Sole for all the support they gave us on race day and the months before. We appreciate Scot's, Sidetrack and Big Chicks for hosting pre-race events.

The 28th Proud To Run is this Saturday, June 27. We already have almost 1,000 runners and walkers signed up and we cap at 1,300 so hurry up and register. Online registration is closed but you can register and pick up your race packet at Universal Sole at 3052 N Lincoln in Chicago. Their hours are 10am - 8pm.
Saturday is the Big Chicks Raffle Party
Proud To Run is having its annual Big Chicks raffle this Saturday. The money goes to PTR which is raising money for Pride Youth and Gerber/Hart Library. We start selling raffle tickets at 8pm and the first raffle drawing is at 9. There is over $1,000 worth of prizes being raffle off so we hope to sell $1,000 in raffle tickets. Cheetah Gym membership, Great America admission, bagels, chocolates, pizza and gift cards galore!
One For The Boys (mostly)
Okay, some women are into it, too, but it is a very niche market here. This weekend is International Mister Leather and FR/FW is making it the monthly social event. The Leather Mart is located at the Chicago Hilton, 720 S. Michigan Ave, lower level. We will meet at the Leather Mart registration area at 12:30pm on Saturday the 23rd. There is a suggested donation of $4 which goes to the Leather Archives and Museum located here in Chicago.
